Two South Shore athletes are getting ready to compete at the Tokyo 2020 summer games.
Chester native, Jacob Saunders will sail alongside Oliver Bone in the Men’s 470.
Competing in the Olympics is not a first for Saunders who made his Olympic debut with his brother in 2016 in Rio where the pair came in 22nd place.
The pair sail in Race 5 on Friday morning at 12:05 and again in Race 6 which kicks off at 1:20am Atlantic time.
Later in the morning, Brooklyn resident Sarah Mitton is scheduled to compete in Women’s Shot Put which starts at 7:25 Atlantic.
It’s the first Olympic competition for Mitton, who competed internationally In 2019, representing Canada at the Pan Am Games in Lima where she finished in sixth place.
Saunders and Mitton are among eight Nova Scotians competing at the Tokyo Summer Games.
