The Executive Director of the Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Tourism Association is optimistic about this summer’s tourism season.
Neil MacKenzie says the industry was hit hard during the pandemic, and will take a while to recover.
But he says with vaccinations going up and cases going down, more people will be able to visit the region.
“The province is obviously recognizing the value of tourism with the investments they’re making. I’m definitely positive for the future, and I’m hoping we stay on this trajectory we’re on. Hopefully we’ll be able to have a stronger economy moving forward,” said MacKenzie.”
Last week, the province announced over $18 million in funding to boost tourism’s re-start.
This includes new grant programs and marketing support for operators, and free admission to public museums for tourists.
MacKenzie says having the Atlantic Bubble operating will also be key.
