The doors will open for the Municipality of the District of Argyle’s new office building next week.
Municipal offices will close on Thursday at noon and reopen to the public in the new building on Tuesday the 29th.
Warden Danny Muise says councillors started putting money aside in 1999 and discussed how they feel about the move.
“We feel very excited about the move. This is a project that we’ve been working on for so long and we can finally see the end result. It’s gonna be like Christmas for us,” says Muise. “We’re very very pleased with how things worked out and how it turned out.”
The new building is located at 5 J.E. Hatfield Court in Tusket.
CAO Alain Muise discussed the benefits of the new building.
“This has been a five or six year project. Our existing building was no longer accessible, or never was accessible I should say,” says Muise. “We’re going to be ready to move into a net zero energy building. It’s expected that the energy consumed will be 100% covered by solar energy.”
Council initially put decision to the public with three options: renovate the existing building, do nothing, or build a new one.
