Two men are facing a slew of charges after a police chase in Antigonish Co.
RCMP say a cruiser was sideswiped by a truck around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, while responding to an erratic driving complaint about a pair of vehicles, on Hwy. 105 in Glendale.
The officer wasn’t injured.
Police say the truck matched the description from the complaint and the officer tried to stop the vehicle, but it fled the area.
They say dispatchers received a 911 call about two vehicles racing and driving erratically, on Hwy. 316 in Lower South River a short time later. The vehicles matched the description from the first complaint.
Police say officers found and tried to pull over one of the vehicles on Hwy. 4 in Lower South River, but the driver didn’t stop.
Officers deployed a spike belt and disabled the vehicle. The driver was arrested without further incident.
They say the driver of the second vehicle was later arrested at home in Colchester Co. without incident.
A 23-year-old man from Debert faces charges of:
-Flight from Police
-Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance
-Impaired Operation of a Conveyance
-Refusal to Comply with a Demand
A 26-year-old man from Truro faces charges of:
-Flight from Police
-Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance
RCMP say both were released from custody and are set to appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court August 30.
