Parade Street
The Parade Street Sewer Separation Project in Yarmouth is starting.
The project will see the sewer, water lines and pavement on Parade Street between First Street and Pleasant Street completely replaced.
Temporary water will be installed tomorrow. The Town of Yarmouth says this will cause minor traffic interruptions between School Street and First Street.
Aberdeen Paving is carrying out the sewer separation work, which will begin in the first week of June.
Both traffic lanes between First Street and Willow Street will be shutdown during the first block of work. First Street will remain open to local traffic.
As the project continues, Parade Street will be completely excavated. The combined rock sewer will be replaced with separate storm and sanitary lines which the town says will reduces the load on the treatment plant.
Sidewalks on Parade Street will stay open during the project but the town says closures and disruptions may happen.
The project was approved as part of the town 2021-22 capital budget. It’s expected to be completed in three months.
