Two municipal units in Shelburne County have created a shared services document.
The agreement involves the Municipality of Barrington and the Town of Clark’s Harbour.
Barrington will provide building and fire inspection, emergency management and landfill services.
Under separate documents, these services have been provided for years, and have now been combined into one inter-municipal agreement.
Barrington Warden Eddie Nickerson says it’s important to both municipalities.
“It is a huge benefit to help tie that up into one document. We’ve never had it in writing. I think the residents of both municipalities will be happy,” said Nickerson.
Clark’s Harbour will share just over nine percent of operating costs.
Barrington will also provide one year of recreation services to Clark’s Harbour on a trial basis.
Nickerson says they want to hear the town’s ideas for recreation.
“It will be their ideas and everything they want, except they will use our staff to fufill the work to get it done.”
The agreement can be found here.
