Mariners On Main is getting a little greener.
On Tuesday, Communities in Bloom cleaned and planted flowers outside the building.
Local president and town councilor Heather Hatfield says it was part of this years national Communities in Bloom theme: Hope Is Growing.
“They were encouraging all the communities to plant yellow gardens and we looked at Mariners On Main,” said Hatfield. “Now that the town owned it we just thought that it was the perfect opportunity to clean it up and plant our Hope Is Growing garden. Hopefully people will appreciate it and enjoy it.”
She let us know what’s in the garden.
“I think mostly marigolds. We’re going to try to put some other greenery in there,” says Hatfield. “They’re beautiful planters, its a great place on Main Street. It needed some brightness and some colour, and we were just glad to be able to do it.”
Meanwhile, businesses have been able to sponsor a planter. 25 planters will go outside the place of business of each sponsor.
