It looks like students, teachers and parents will need to get comfortable with at-home learning.
Dr. Robert Strang, Chief Medical Officer of Health for Nova Scotia, says he doesn’t see public schools re-opening next week due to rising cases of COVID-19 and possible community spread in all regions.
“I certainly don’t see schools opening in the next week or the week after,” Strang said. “It can only be done when we have low risk in communities which then creates safe schools.”
He says it must be safe in order to bring students and staff back into the classroom.
“We’ll continue to monitor our epidemiology and see what progress we are making. Certainly, in-school learning has been one of our priorities throughout the pandemic.”
Nova Scotia entered a province-wide two-week shut-down on April 28.
However, in a recent interview Strang suggested the shut-down will likely be extended.
