Work is continuing to reopen the former YMCA building at 275 Main Street.
The Mariner’s Centre, who will be handling the operation of the facility, are now seeking someone to fill the role of aquatics manager and facility supervisor.
CEO Dorgam Hideib discussed what their main responsibilities will be.
“This person is going to be responsible for the development of those aquatic programs, helping us lead the aquatic staff and helping with supervision of other programs and services across the facility once its open,” said Hideib. “So this will be one of our leadership roles.”
He also gave an update about the larger plan for aquatics in the area.
“This is a really exciting time for Yarmouth County and the Mariner’s Centre,” said Hideib. “The community is committed to a future expansion but in the near term, what we’re looking for here is a role that will help us reopen the facility on Main Street.”
The Mariner’s Centre is continuing work to develop a plan and budget for the facility, which Hideib says they have nicknamed “Mariners on Main”.
