Phase 2 of Shelburne’s High Speed Internet Project is now complete.
The Municipality of the District of Shelburne says that 3,250 premises now have high speed internet.
Warden Penny Smith talked about how important the project is and what it means for the community.
“This is a game changer for us. COVID-19 has demonstrated the need for reliable, high speed internet now more than ever,” says Smith. “We need it to be able to work from home, or run a business. It’s also vital for our education system.”
Smith described how the project will help make Shelburne stand out.
“Many companies and organizations have realized that with internet access many services can still be offered and employees can work from home,” says Smith. “Along with our pristine natural environment, safe communities and friendly people, which contribute to our quality of life, we can also boast now having the fastest high speed internet available.”
The Municipality still needs to bring internet access to 46 premises in the Canada Hill area which they say will be completed by the end of 2021.
