The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax has called off the search for a missing fisher in waters off the coast of Cape Breton.
The JRCC stated their decision was based on the results of search efforts over the past 25 hours.

The FV Tyhawk had five crew members on board when a mayday call was issued at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday.
The boat later sunk in waters west of Cheticamp.
Four crew members were rescued from the water by a nearby fishing vessel and taken to hospital in the Acadian community.
In a post on Facebook, the Elsipogtog First Nation in New Brunswick revealed two of the five fishers onboard the FV Tyhawk had died including one that had been taken out the water to safety.
The First Nation’s chief and council sent condolences to family and friends of the victims.
Crew members onboard the FV Tyhawk were based out of the community located outside of Moncton.
