A fire truck heads toward the scene on Hardwood Hills Road
Yarmouth Firefighters responded to brush fire today in Melbourne on Hardwood Hills Road.
Acting Fire Chief Mike Deveau says that the fire grew out of control and spread to the nearby forest.
The fire consumed a camper trailer and a pile of tires. There were no injuries.
Members from the Lake Vaughn and Wedgeport fire departments were also on scene.
The Department Lands and Forestry is attending to the scene to make sure the hotspots and undergrowth are extinguished properly.
The public is asked to stay away from the area. A statement from the Yarmouth Professional Firefighters Association says the road is challenging enough without onlookers impeding safety and the response.
