The Town of Yarmouth will be introducing virtual parking permits next month.
Starting April 1st the town will introduce HotSpot, a service that lets you buy permits for two hour parking lots online or by using a Smartphone app. The permits can be monthly or daily.
This means you can purchase your parking before you leave your home.
A name, contact information and license plate are needed to register. Parking enforcement staff will scan the license plate of parked vehicles into a mobile device to validate virtual permits.
Paper passes using hang tags will no longer be available for purchase, in person registration for virtual passes will be at Town Hall.
The town says paper permits will be honored until May 1st.
The Chamber of Commerce says that this will not affect two hour street parking downtown.
