Tri-County Women's Centre
Today, March 8th, marks International Women’s Day.
This year there will be virtual events happening on the Tri-County Women’s Centre’s Facebook page including an online presentation, art class, a coffee talk and music performances.
TCWC Executive Director, Trish McCourt, talked about the theme of this years Women’s Day which is Choose to Challenge.
“It’s about challenging inequalities,” said McCourt. “We need to speak out, we need to call it out when its happening. It needs to be brought more to the forefront of peoples discussions. Certainly things have improved for women but we’re still nowhere close to equality.”
She added that choosing to challenge is something everyone can work on together.
“There’s something that everyone can do and that’s really what this ‘Choosing to Challenge’ is about,” said McCourt “Having an intent to challenge everyone’s equality and equity regardless of their circumstances.”
