The company that owned the Chief William Saulis scallop dragger, which has been missing in the Bay of Fundy since mid-December, has issued an update.
The Full Bay Scallop Association and Yarmouth Sea Products says a trust to support the families has raised more than $200,000.
The fund will cover things like funeral expenses beyond the benefits provided by Worker’s Compensation and the Canada Pension Act, and any legal services required to obtain the designation of a person legally authorized to represent the estates of the deceased fishermen.
The remaining funds slated to be distributed to the estates of the deceased in a fair and equitable fashion.
Yarmouth Sea Products says they continue to co-operate fully with investigations into the tragedy being carried out by the
Transportation Safety Board, the RCMP and other agencies.
The vessel went down in rough seas on December 15th, with six souls aboard – Captain Charles Roberts, Leonard Gabriel, Aaron Cogswell, Eugene Francis, Dan Forbes and Mike Drake.
