The options have been narrowed for bringing aquatic services back to Yarmouth; the Bridge Subcommittee met today and has made their recommendation.
After discussing options at Université Saint-Anne, TRU and the Grand Hotel pool, the committee decided to recommend the Mariners Centre Expansion Steering Committee focus on reopening the pool at 275 Main Street, the former site of the YMCA.
The Steering Committee will now decide how to move forward on the Bridge’s recommendations.
A commitment of $75,000 was recently made by the Municipality of the District of Argyle to reopen the pool at 275 Main Street and was matched by the Town of Yarmouth, who bought the building last summer.
There is no word yet on when or if the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth will make a motion to provide funds. MODY Councilor Daniel Allen said during the bridge committee meeting that he wants to see the costs for reopening 275 Main Street before deciding.
