The Municipality of the District of Yarmouth wants safety on the airport stretch addressed.
At their council meeting this week, councillor Nick Hilton brought forward concerns about a series of accidents, infrastructure changes and undersized paved shoulders on this stretch of highway three.
Hilton says the airport stretch has been identified as the most dangerous piece of road in the community for active transportation.
Council will pen a letter to the minister of transportation, MLA Zack Churchill, the Town of Yarmouth and Acadia First Nations to flag the issue and initiate a conversation about a solution. They intend to send the letter to different levels of government around the province as well in the hopes that they can come together to develop a provincial airport strategy.
They also want an updated study of the the airport stretch.
