More high-speed internet hookups on the way to Yarmouth and Digby counties.
The Western Regional Enterprise Network has partnered with local municipalities, Develop Nova Scotia, and Bell Canada on fibre-optic Internet builds in the region.
WREN says in this round, the service will extend into some of the hardest to reach areas within the region.
In Argyle, a $5000 municipal contribution will see 10 homes in the Belleville South area gain a high-speed connection.
In the Municipality of Yarmouth, $278,500 in municipal funding will see improved connections for some 410 customers, in or near Main Shore Rd, Brenton, South Ohio, Wellington, Carleton Centre, Deerfield, Mood Road, Pleasant Valley South, Arcadia, Chebogue Point, Sand Beach, Sandford to Cape Forchu.
The Municipality of Digby’s $259,500 contribution will see improvements for another 640 premises in or near Acadiaville, Conway, Joggin Bridge, Smiths Cove, Lighthouse Road, Culloden Road, Seabrook to Roxville, Upper Crossroad, Middle Crossroad, Brighton to Barton, Doucetteville, Sissiboo Falls, Weymouth Mills, Yarmouth Rd., Ashmore to Plympton Station.
It’s the third and final round of funding from the Nova Scotia Internet Funding trust, which has brought fibre-optic service to over 7,000 homes and businesses in the region so far.
