Conservation groups and concerned citizens will defend their protest of clearcutting in New France before the Nova Scotia Supreme Court in Halifax on Tuesday.
In the fall, citizens and members of Extinction Rebellion Nova Scotia Association began blocking access to an area of Crown land in New France to protect an endangered Mainland moose habitat from logging.
They were arrested in December after a court-ordered injunction for Civil Contempt was issued.
Five women and four men were arrested and later released.
Ecojustice, with support from Juniper Law, will defend the group against the injunction.
The demonstrators, known as forest protectors, are demanding an end to all proposed and current logging on Crown lands between the Silver River and Tobeatic Wilderness Areas.
They say government inaction to protect the moose habitat left them no choice but to block the logging roads.
