Yarmouth fire crews responded to a fire at a home on Pleasant street around 1 p.m. today.
Yarmouth Fire Department Acting Chief Mike Deveau says crews arrived to find fire in one area of the 1st floor.
The firefighters were able to put out the fire before it spread to the rest of the home.
There was one person inside when the fire began. They were alerted by the smoke detector and escaped with no injuries.
Deveau says they are investigating the cause of the fire.
