The Municipality of the District of Argyle has agreed to some funding for the Village Historique Acadien and Musée des Acadiens des Pubnicos toward hiring a consultant.
The consultant will look into the possibility of amalgamating the two groups.
Le Village requested 5000 dollars.
Councilor Glenn Diggdon said he spent time talking with stakeholders for additional information.
“I was actually into the Musée today, and I was talking to the people in the Musée,” he noted. “I would be willing to make the motion that we give them $2000 to help them out in their project.”
Council agreed to the funding.
CAO Alain Muise cautioned that the study is merely a fact-finding mission at this stage, and wouldn’t guarantee a merger.
