2020 was undeniably a tough year for everyone but Yarmouth Mayor Pam Mood says that it brought people together.
In a year-end interview with Y95 news Mood praised the community and discussed how the unknowability and challenges posed by COVID-19 didn’t stop them from completing a variety of projects.
She says they didn’t skip a beat.
“We did Main Street, some of Parade Street up by the MacDonald’s, a few other places,” said Mood. “The ferry terminal project is a huge one. We did an amazing active transportation trail up on the Haley Road. I guess on top of the list is the bulk water station that we put up to service the entire region.”
Looking ahead, Mood hopes that people continue to stay safe.
“By the sounds of things everyone thinks that when 2021 hits everything’s gonna disappear, which is not the case,” said Mood. “I think we’ve learned a lot this past year. For the town, we will continue on with those projects. We have lots on our list to get done, we’re listening to the community”
Projects for 2021 include reopening the YMCA and continuing to expand the Mariners Centre.
She says that for right now, we should focus on looking after each other.
