Oliver, Olivia, Benjamin, and Charlotte – but nary a Karen in sight.
The province has released the list of 2020’s most popular baby names.
Oliver tops the list for boys, Olivia for the girls.
The top 10 names is rounded out by William, Jack, Levi, Noah, Ivy and Ava.
William, Olivia, Charlotte and Benjamin have dominated the top baby names in the province for the past five years.
Names growing in popularity include Luke, Evelyn and Thomas, as well as some old favourites like Henry and Nora.
As confirmed by vital statistics, no baby born in Nova Scotia in 2020 was named Karen.
The name was a popular one in the 1960’s and 1970’s, but fell out of fashion in later decades.
In 2020, the name was hijacked as a pejorative term.
There have been 6,856 registered births in the province this year – the fewest of the past five years.
