One of my families longest running traditions is reading the “Twas the night before Christmas” poem every Christmas Eve! My Grandfather had read us the story every year for as long as I can remember. The whole family would get together and listen and even Skype the other family members that lived away! It’s a tradition that I still enjoy to this day and look forward to it every year even though it is the same story over and over again. As a kid I, for some reason thought that my family was the only one that did this. I have however found out that that is far from the truth. Many families have the same tradition in various forms.
It’s a great poem and has actually been around for longer then I thought. The poem is actually not even called “Twas The Night Before Christmas” the original name was “A Visit From St. Nick”! It was written back in 1823 by a American professor named Clement Clarke Moore who based his character of Saint Nick off a local Dutch handyman. Cool right!? Does someone in your family read this poem on Christmas Eve? Maybe you do? Let me know on our Facebook page or give me a call(1800-496-2557) Also check out the video below, it’s Bob Dylan reading the poem in his unique way! Happy Holidays!
