With lobster season now in full swing across the province, its time to start looking at the seasons potential.
President of Coldwater Lobster Association, Bernie Berry, discussed the potential prices for the season by looking at what has already come out of LFA33.
“Prices that were hearing, at least anecdotally, 7.50 to 8 dollars which is a good price. A good opening price.”
Berry also discussed the demand for lobster, an industry that initially suffered due to COVID-19.
“It seems like right now, from what we understand, the Asian market has come back really well,” said Berry. “And the US market is strong. It’s strong in a different way.”
He added that the Canadian market, while smaller, has seen an uptick over the past year.
