Since we’re doing a toy drive today I thought this would be an appropriate topic to chat about! As kids most of us had a ton of different toys over the years. Some of them might be long gone. Rusted and thrown away or lost decades ago but some, I’m sure you still keep around or even pass down to other younger generations. As it is with most things, the toys that were made a while ago out of wood and metal and not plastic and cardboard have probably been more resilient to time. Things like toys are just not made the same as they once were it seems.
When I was growing up I played with a ton of brand new toys and some second hand ones or even third hand ones from my grandparents time. My grandfather had a steel toy dump truck that he played with as a kid and it was in such good shape that when I came along I played with it too. Same with some of my Dad’s old action figures and some old board games. All these things were decades old but still were in good shape and were a lot of fun even in the times of computers and Game Boys! Most of my toys that I got as a kid have been given to my younger sister or my younger cousins so that they can enjoy them!
Do you still have toys from your childhood lying around? What kinds? Did you give them to your kids or grandkids to play with? Let me know! Call in at 1800-496-2557 or comment on our Y95 Facebook page!
