So we have known since January that the 5 dollar bill as we know it will be no more. Right now on the face side of the bill there is a portrait of Sir Wilfred Laurier the Prime Minister from 1896-1911 he was Canada’s first francophone PM. This will soon change though. The Bank of Canada received over 600 names from thousands of people after they asked Canadians to decide who should be the next person on the 5 and whittled all those names down to this short list. Find the full article HERE.

So out of those names on the short list who do you think should be on the next 5 dollar bill? For me personally, Terry Fox is a good option however it might be a better idea to highlight someone else who might be less known. I was very disappointed with myself that I did not know many of the names on this list and adding one of them to the bill will really put them in the public eye which I think is a good thing! I learned a lot about these people so regardless who The Bank Of Canada chooses next year make sure to check out each of their stories!
