Mike Sack has been re-elected Chief of Sipekne’katik First Nation in a landslide.
Chief Sack received 72% of votes over his challengers Heather Knockwood and Kim Paul.
Incumbents elected to Council are Lena Knockwood, Doreen Knockwood, Michelle Glasgow, Gerry Augustine, Mary Ellen Syliboy,Gavin Michael, Timothy Nevin, Eldon Paul, Keith Julian.
Challengers Cheryl Gehue and Brandon Maloney were also elected, as was former chief Rufus Copage.
In a press release announcing the win, Chief Sack stated that ‘Our people are committed to advancing our Treaty right to a moderate livelihood and we are very close to finalizing our Rights Implementation Fishery Management plan as we move from phase one to phase two.”
Chief and Council’s term is for two years.
Acadia First Nation is holding an election later this month.
