
Fire Crews ventilate the Dollarama on Starrs Road in Yarmouth on October 22, 2020. A reported explosion and subsequent fire happened around 10:00 a.m.
UPDATE 12:15 p.m.:
No injuries reported but many shaken and upset staff following a fire at Dollarama on Starrs Road in Yarmouth Thursday morning.
Emergency crews were called a little after 10:00.
Employees told Y95 news that they heard a loud explosion and then flames coming from inside the store.
Smoke could be seen billowing from the building, with fire crews appearing to be ventilating the store shortly before 11.
Fire departments from Yarmouth, Eel Brook, Port Maitland and Lake Vaughan responded, as did EHS.
RCMP note that Starrs Road is now open, and they’re asking people not to park near the scene.
There’s no word on a cause.
The Fire Marshall has been called to the scene.

Starrs Road is blocked at Hardscratch road, as well as Jody Shelley Drive.
Police are redirecting traffic in several areas.
There’s no word on a cause.
Nearby stores in the strip mall are also closed.
