The province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health says university students have brought little COVID-19 from outside the Atlantic bubble.
Dr. Robert Strang says they’ve tested over 3200 students and only three tests came back positive.
Dr. Strang says that’s a good sign.
“It shows that the risk from students is relatively low, but it also shows that our strategy has worked.”
Dr. Strang says it’s still important to keep up testing and self isolation requirements.
However, he says compliance with the digital check-in has been good and most students are self-isolating properly.
“We had three individuals who, without the measures in place, could well have been following a normal student life,” he says. “Having much more significant potential exposures.”
The Department of Health and Wellness reported no new cases Wednesday and three active infections total.
