Update 12:15 pm:
RCMP says the k-9 unit which was stabbed is stable and being monitored closely, and they continue to search for Doucette.
In the release, they say they “Want Doucette to know our goal is to bring this matter to a peaceful resolution.”
Police are still searching for the Bridgewater man allegedly responsible for stabbing a police officer Monday evening.
In an update, Bridgewater Police say they had spotted the suspect, Tobias Doucette, swimming in the LaHave River around 1 pm yesterday.
Police attempted to arrest him, but Doucette fled into the woods along highway 331 in Conquerall Bank. An RCMP police dog was injured in that attempt.
Doucette was not found afterwards, and police are continuing to search the area.
RCMP Critical Incident Command has taken over the search lead due to the last incident and last known location occurring in the Conquerall Bank area of Lunenburg County.
Police also identified the officer who was stabbed as Sgt. Matt Bennett, a 13-year member with Bridgewater Police Service.
Bennett is said to be recovering after a successful surgery.
