A 60 year old man from Eastern Passage has been shot dead by police.
Halifax District RCMP say they responded to a house in Eastern Passage on Thursday for a call of an armed man who was uttering threats.
When officers arrived, they found a man armed with a handgun outside the residence.
Police say he didn’t respond to officers’ directions, and eventually raised his handgun towards the responding officers.
Officers then fired their weapon at the man.
Paramedics responded, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
No one else was injured.
The investigation is ongoing, and the matter has been referred to the province’s Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT).
