Two family bubbles are a thing of the past.
Premier Stephen McNeil says you can now gather in any group of ten without physical distancing.
McNeil says they understand how eager people are.
“Effective today we are bursting the bubble… we know that a lot of you have been waiting for months to come in close contact with people you love,” he says. “You can finally get that long awaited hug from your grandchild, a parent, or a close friend.”
McNeil says the ten-person bubble doesn’t have to be exclusive, but public health recommends it should be as consistent as possible.
He also announced groups of up to 50 can meet, provided they can maintain physical distancing standards, of six feet of separation, and playgrounds can open immediately.
McNeil says they aren’t ready to reopen the province to visitors yet, visitor restrictions remain in place, but officials are looking at the possibility of an “Atlantic Bubble” beginning in the middle of July.
Meanwhile, the province has gone nine straight days with no new COVID-19 cases.
We have two active cases, both in hospital, one in the ICU.
Our total number of confirmed cases remains 1061, 62 people have died and 997 have recovered.
