RCMP say an officer was injured and one man is in custody following an incident in Colchester County.
A press release states that around suppertime on Tuesday, officers responded to a pair of calls in Great Village.
One call alleged threats were being made, while the second reported an unwanted person.
Police say during a conversation between the RCMP officer and the caller, the man began assaulting the officer without warning.
The officer was allegedly struck several times in the face before a struggle ensued.
The officer tried to use a Taser, but it wasn’t successful.
The man allegedly attempted to take the Taser from the officer before reaching for the officer’s service pistol.
He eventually barricaded himself alone inside the home.
Additional officers, an RCMP Crisis Negotiator, and an Emergency Response Team were called in.
The man eventually exited the house and was taken into custody around 10:00 p.m.
