The defendant in a high-profile murder case in Nova Scotia three years ago will again have his day in court.
The Nova Scotia Court of Appeal has ordered a new trial for William Sandeson.
Back in 2015, Sandeson was a student at Dalhousie University.
Prosecutors argued that he lured Taylor Samson to his Halifax apartment to kill him and steal nine kilograms of marijuana.
He was convicted of first-degree murder June 2017.
Samson’s body has never been found.
Wednesday ruling explained that the trial judge erred in not declaring a mistrial after learning that a private detective working for Sandeson supplied information to Halifax police.
