They say the circumstances of the initial call and the dog’s death are under investigation.
Police issued a warning on Twitter just before 9 a.m. Tuesday.
They said a tan and brown pit bull, which was considered dangerous, was on the loose in Middle Musquodoboit, and people in the area were told to stay indoors and call 911 if they saw the animal.
Another tweet, sent 15 minutes later, indicated the dog was involved in a fatal attack.
