Stores are reopening at a rapid pace at the Yarmouth Mall.
As of Tuesday, 18 stores are open with 21 expected to open by Friday.
Still others continue to are preparing behind the scenes for when the province gives the go-ahead.
Yarmouth Mall manager Linda Deveau explains that physical distancing rules due to COVID-19 are in effect, while other policies vary from store to store.
“Some of the stores also have a policy, they have hand sanitizer on a table at the door,” she explained. “They request that you sanitize before you come in, and I do have one store right now is requesting that customers enter with a mask on.”
Deveau says tenants who aren’t yet able to open are undergoing preparations for when they get the go-ahead to open from the province.
Overall, she says, people have been supportive of the new normal.
“We know that there are new rules and it can be a bit frustrating having to wait your turn,” she said. “We’re all busy people, we have busy lives. We really appreciate seeing the local customers return, shopping local is going to be so key.”
Deveau explains that since the situation is changing rapidly, up to date information on store openings and policies can be found on the Yarmouth Mall facebook page or people can inquire with stores directly.
