Cumberland South MLA Tory Rushton
In the aftermath of last weekend’s shootings, many people in the areas affected are having a rough time healing.
Cumberland South MLA Tory Rushton says the closeness of the communities and the pandemic are factors.
“Everybody’s closely knit, and everybody knows somebody who knew somebody,” he said. “Same goes with this horrific incident that took place on the weekend, there was a connection that somebody could relate to everybody. There’s really been no real ability with the COVID issues going around for the families to even have closure nor the public to put some closure on this.”
He says Friday’s virtual vigil and other online tributes may help.
At 6:00 p.m. Friday, many churches will toll their bells 22 times in memory of the victims.
The “Nova Scotia Remembers” will follow at 7:00 p.m.
You can hear it on Y95.
The vigil is presented by the “Colchester- Supporting our Communities” facebook group.
