The Chair of the Yarmouth Food Bank committee is taking time to dispel a rumour making the rounds.
Reverend Bill Newell says the Food Bank is still open and serving those in need.
Newell notes that they continue to be open on Tuesdays, and they’ve made a few changes.
Only a certain number of people are permitted inside at once, you must bring your own bag and pack it on site, and physical distancing measures are in place.
“Last week, numbers were less thank half of what they would be on the second Tuesday of the month,” he explained. “I understand some people probably, because of underlying health reasons, feel like they can’t come but they can always send somebody with a note.”
He notes that they’re not registering any new clients at this time, but will begin to do so again once they’re able.
The Food Bank also continues to accept cash donations.
You can mail your donation c/o Yarmouth Food Bank to 124 Brunswick Street, Yarmouth NS, B5A 2H1 or drop it off on-location at the side door, on Tuesdays.
