
The Department of Health and Wellness has confirmed that there has been a third death related to COVID-19 in Nova Scotia.
The department reported on Monday that a male in his 80’s in Halifax Regional Municipality died as a result of complications related to COVID-19.
Premier Stephen McNeil offered words of condolences.
“Tragically, another family is grieving the loss of a loved one as result of COVID-19,” he said. “As I offer to them my heartfelt condolences, I want to emphasize to all Nova Scotians that we cannot afford to become complacent. Life is precious and we must all work together to protect those who are dear to us.”
Twenty-nine new cases were identified on Sunday, meaning that there are now 474 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province.
So far, the province has had 15,580 negative test results, 474 positive results and three deaths with the ages of those with confirmed tests ranging from under ten to over 90.
The department says there are nine individuals currently in hospital, with four of those in Intensive Care, while 101 cases are now listed as resolved after the individuals were declared “recovered”.
Health and Wellness is also reiterating the expanded list of symptoms being screened, reminding the public to visit the 811 website or call 811 for further assessment if you have two or more of the following symptoms:
— fever
— new or worsening cough
— sore throat
— runny nose
— headache
