An upcoming election for the Acadia First Nation has been postponed.
A release from band solicitors say the process was expected to start with a Nomination Meeting on May 5th, with the election to follow June 13th.
Indigenous Services Canada has recommended that First Nations postpone elections during this health crisis, and Federal and Provincial Health authorities have recommended all Canadians practice physical distancing.
It’s expected that the election will go ahead in the fall, though the exact date will be determined by Chief and Council when the length of the health crisis is better understood.
