Property owners in the Town of Yarmouth got a bit of a surprise on their latest tax bill.
The solid waste fee that is normally on the fall tax bill showed up on the spring bill.
Mayor Pam Mood says it’s nothing for residents to be concerned about.
“It takes a manual override in order to put that on the second bill, which comes out late summer-early fall. So, basically, we’re just telling folks feel free to pay it but, if you don’t want to pay it until the next bill comes out, that’s perfectly fine.”
Mayor Mood says the rest of the bill is correct.
“Just a simple oversight…the bills are, as per usual, not due until the end of May and certainly, folks can write a cheque and mail it to Town Hall, you can just put it in the front door at Town Hall, or you can pay it by online banking, as well.”
The Mayor says residents can pay the full amount if they’d like but no interest will be charged on those who wait.
