Just a day after re-iterating that the race would continue, the Conservative party leadership race has been postponed due to COVID-19.
The Leadership Election Organizing Committee met last night to discuss the impacts of the pandemic and whether or not they could continue the process, despite measures taken to combat the virus.
With all non essential businesses now closed, the Committee determined that it is no longer possible to meet the necessary deadlines including processing and counting ballots in time for a June 27th announcement.
They will meet again on May 1st to re-evaluate.
Debates scheduled in April and the leadership event on June 27th have also been cancelled.
