Rhyno’s Towing and Collision defeated Heritage Brewing Chickenhawks 7-6.
Atom A
The Pink Star Barro Atom A Mariners came home championships after a monster showing at the Annual Mike Schmitt Memorial Tournament in Truro over the weekend.
Yarmouth’s first test was a battle against the Brookfield Elks, with the Mariners taking the 5-4 win.
Cullen Fitzgerald scored a pair of goals, with Brody Brannen, Samuel Green, and Parker LeBlanc all chipping in goals.
Cullen Fitzgerald, Myles Ellis, and Parker LeBlanc all notched assists.
Jarriyn Maxwell and Austin Stoddard backstopped the team to the win between the pipes.
In the second game, Yarmouth beat South Shore 4-3.
Goals scored by Parker LeBlanc with all four goals with one assist by Myles Ellis.
The Jarriyn Maxwell/Austin Stoddard duo picked up the win in net again.
A confident Mariners squad defeated the Antigonish Bulldogs 7-4 in their third match.
Parker LeBlanc led the offence with four goals, while Jake Sanford, Brody Symonds, and Brady Newell all chipped in goals.
The championship game saw Yarmouth face South Shore and come away with a 4-2 win.
Phillip Richard took the lead on offence with a pair of goals, with Nate d’Entremont, and Myles Ellis adding one each. Assists by Jake Sanford, Dylan Scott, Myles Ellis, Brady Newell, and Jesse Churchill.
This is the team’s second championship win this month – they clinched the Western Valley David Morse Memorial Tournament in Kingston earlier in December.
Bantam A
The Yarmouth GPK Refrigeration Bantam A Mariners snagged second place at the Acadia Shootout Tournament over the weekend.
Yarmouth opened tournament play with a dominant 11 – 0 win over the Antigonish Bulldogs.
Team captain Daniel Kenney netted a hat trick, with Brody Smith, Tyler Adams and Alyre Richardson scoring two goals each.
Lucas Cottreau and Blake Fish added to the tally each with one goal apiece.
The Yarmouth squad faced hosts Acadia in game two, coming away with a 2 – 1 victory over the Axemen. Ollie Tipton and Ben Lyons scored for Yarmouth.
The Mariners wrapped up round robin play with a 3-3 tie against the Cole Harbour Wings.
Nolan Cottreau, Daniel Kenney and Ben Lyons all scored for Yarmouth.
The Mariners played their way to the finals with a 2 -1 win over the Antigonish Bulldogs.
Daniel Kenney opened scoring, with the game winning goal coming from Dominic Jacquard.
The Mariners fell to the Acadia Axemen in the championship game, with the home team notching a 5 – 2 win for the banner.
Scoring for the Mariners were Nolan Cottreau and Landon Watkins-Bonnar.
Top three point earners for the tournament were Landon Watkins-Bonnar (7), Alyre Richardson (6) and Daniel Kenney (6).
Braeden Hipson was in net for all five tournament games.
