The issue of the Argyle exit on Highway 103 has been brought up in the Legislature once again.
Argyle-Barrington MLA Colton LeBlanc pressured the Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal Tuesday during Question Period to find a solution to the many vehicle collisions at Exit 32.
LeBlanc says his predecessor, Chris d’Entremont, brought the subject up in 2016 and again this past Spring and was told the department was looking closely at it but they have not seen any action on it yet.
“There’s concern for residents who travel that stretch of highway each and every day, the school buses that turn in and turn off, going to Drumlin Heights, and then the staff and family members going to and from Nakile Home., so, this is a very dangerous section of highway that needs attention before somebody gets killed.”
He says they are still waiting for any work to begin but that the minister has given him an open invitation to meet with his department to look at potential solutions.
“That’s certainly something that I’m going to follow through with and there’s actually a petition circulating in the community, so I’ll be happy to table it in the Legislature next week to call the government to take action and hopefully we can see some solutions in the near future.”
The area in question is a high traffic section with two close turn-offs, one to Drumlin Heights School and one to Nakile Drive with little signage and is known for its thick fog.
LeBlanc says he hopes that the Minister will follow through and ensure that appropriate actions are taken.
