It’s that time of year again – Thanksgiving Weekend is approaching.
It is without question one of my favourite long weekends of the year. Now don’t get me wrong – what’s not to love about a long weekend – but Thanksgiving is special. The air is crisp, the colours outside are wonderful, USUALLY the weather is pretty terrific too. Family gathers, laughs and talks commence, food is consumed; and did I mention turkey?
My Granddaughter Clementine is celebrating her first birthday on top of all this; her Mom dreamed of a Halloween Baby I believe, but horray! We have a Thanksgiving Baby, and it’s pretty special.
On top of that, Thanksgiving (American Thanksgiving actually, but we’ll ignore that) means a time to re-watch one of the funniest things in the history of Television – the Infamous WKRP Turkey Drop of 1978.

You all know it; and if you don’t, what rock have you been living under? It’s okay; below is the YouTube video.
You know what’s REALLY Funny about WKRP? The stories from that perfect first season were mostly true. Only the names were changed to protect the innocent. Even the crazy Thanksgiving Turkey Drop and the horrible death of countless Turkeys was based on a real incident.
WKRP was created and produced by Hugh Wilson, who based the original concept the characters, and many of the first season’s stories on his own experience on his time spent at a station in Atlanta, WQXI. The Turkey Drop didn’t happen there however. Hugh heard the story while working there about another station in Texas who decided it would be a great idea to drop live Turkeys out of a helicopter.
Without further ado here it is: the funniest moment in TV History!
