The province’s Utility and Review Board says the Municipality of Argyle’s decision to grant a development agreement to a Wedgeport company followed its Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use Bylaw
A group of residents and property owners appealed the decision which would allow the construction and operation of a sea cucumber processing plant located in the Business Park in Tusket.
Jules LeBlanc wanted to build a sea cucumber pharmaceutical processing facility and the URB held a hearing on the matter on May 14.
A number of residents who live near the site appeared before the board expressing concern over its potential environmental impact.
In a ruling issued today, the URB says the Municipality of Argyle’s decision to approve a development agreement for LeBlanc, president of Ocean Pride Fisheries in Wedgeport, addressed concerns of the residents including traffic, hours of operation and noise and odour mitigation.
The URB dismissed the appeal.
