Labour Day weekend has come and gone, summer is winding down and the CAT ferry remains tied up in Yarmouth.
Last week Premier Stephen McNeil told reporters there was no update as to when it might begin sailing to Bar Harbour.
Transportation Minister Lloyd Hines said they’re hoping to see the ferry operate in this year.
NDP Leader Gary Burrill says the government’s response is ridiculous.
“What the minister is his situation should be doing and what the government ought be doing is acknowledging the complete disaster that their incompetence has visited on the economy of the Tri-Counties.
He says the government’s notion that its handling of the ferry file is good is foolish.
” I just find it inappropriate and ridiculous for week and week the Minister of Transportation makes a statement about something he thinks is going well and about how happy he is.”
Burrill says the government of Stephen McNeil owes it to the people of south western Nova Scotia to give much clearer answers on the situation with the ferry.
