The Department of Lands and Forestry is letting mother nature take its toll on a forest fire in Shelburne County.
A crew of firefighters were finally able to contain the 15 hectare blaze in Jordan Bay as of Wednesday at 10 a.m.
It started Sunday afternoon in dry conditions.
Supervisor of Forest Health, Scott Tingley, says no one is on site today and they’re hoping the forecast stays true with a good amount of rain.
“Crews will be on site tomorrow, again, to assess and they’ll continue to patrol the fire and if there are any hot spots, they’ll continue mopping up. It will probably be at least another day before they call it extinguished.”
Tingley says strong teamwork from local firefighters and assisting helicopters helped limit the spread of the fire to 15 hectares.
Conservation officers with the Department of Environment are still investigating the cause.
