The Parkinson Canada Superwalk is coming up on September 28th.
It begins at Frost Park in downtown Yarmouth.
Check-in is at 12:00 p.m. with the walk beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Rita Fitzgerald, who is taking part for the 3rd time, says up until last year, participants had to travel to Halifax.
She says her main goal is to raise awareness, especially for those affected by the disease who are looking for support.
“Not knowing that you can get support from other people is not a good thing. It’s a lot to mage by yourself.”
The Superwalk is a major fundraiser in support of the more than 100,000 Canadians affected.
Parkinson Canada has invested more than $29 million in research.
